Diarrhea in dogs is an indication that your dog is ingesting something that is doing a great deal of harm. Both diarrhea and vomiting is a purging of the body. It is a good sign. It means you need to look at the cause, not the effect.
Diarrhea in dogs can be acute or chronic. An acute bout means that it occurs just the once and is resolved quickly. It may have been caused by eating something that is harmful, such as food poisoning.
Dogs have what I call ‘cast iron stomachs’. That is they are omnivores and can eat anything. Anything natural, that is. They can east rotting and decaying meat with impunity. They can eat a purely vegetarian diet, no problem. They can survive on a diet of earthworms in times of scarcity.
Dogs are very adaptable. To natural fluctuations and food. But not to man made problems.
Chronic diarrhea is when the condition keeps recurring, or never goes away completely. It comes about because they are constantly ingesting something that is harming their health.
And the most likely offender to this is the food you are feeding them. Processed, commercial dog food is highly toxic and nutrient poor. It doesn’t matter what the claims are on the packet, most of them are simply legal through careful wording, rather than actually truthful.
There are two things you can do to resolve diarrhea in dogs.
This medicine is absolutely fabulous at assisting the body in expelling any toxins from the body. It may increase the purging over a short period, but you will notice that your dog is happier. Who wouldn’t be after dumping a toxic load?
It’s important to keep an eye out for dehydration with any amount of purging. A healthy dog will keep up their liquid intake. An unhealthy dog may not be able to address this themselves.
To quickly resolve diarrhea in dogs, either in the acute or chronic form, will prevent any problems that may develop because of it. But you need to assist their body in doing this, rather than in suppressing the symptoms.

Abdominal cramps and diarrhea for 2 weeks now?
I’m 18 years old and for the past 2 weeks I’ve suffered from abdominal cramps after eating anything and chronic diarrhea. I haven’t been vomiting or anything like that and I feel fine otherwise. Anyone know what this might be? Thanks!
you really need to go see your doctor. Two weeks is a long time to have diarrhea, and there are way too many causes to guess what may be causing it. Meanwhile- for relief, eat coconut macaroons to stop the diarrhea ( I know it sounds weird but is a great natural cure). You could become dehydrated and not know it so it is important to get to the doc.

It all started April 19th. While on a plane, I was struck with horrible nausea, and spent several hours on the floor of the Denver Airport bathroom. Since then I’ve been to the ER once, two different medical doctors, and a therapist, and still no one can figure out what is wrong with me. I have general queasiness about 90% of the time, and sometimes it becomes worse nausea. When the nausea is REALLY bad, I have diarrhea but that has only happened 3-5 times. I get hungry, eat something, and get queasy as a result. Queasiness is worse when I move. I’m not in any pain at all.
I have ruled out the following:
Bacteria
Virus
Parasite
PMS
Pregnancy
Bladder Infection
Kidney Infection
So..my actual questions…any suggestions on what this might be? I’m getting a little tired of the 3.5 months of nausea.
Second question…any suggestion on how to get rid of the nausea? Pepto doesn’t do much and I can only eat so much ginger….
Thanks!
It might be your vision. Get your eyes checked! It could be a form of vertigo or other eye focus problems.
Also, it could be your inner ear. See an ear/nose/throat doctor if your eyes check out okay. Inner ear controls balance and the problem could be there – ear pressure problems from the plane, broken ear drum, etc.
Peppermint always works for me when I’m nauseous. Chew a piece of gum, dab peppermint oil on your wrists or temples, or make peppermint tea.

okay, lemme start by saying i’m 20 years old. Iv had chronic stomach pain/diarrhea for almost 5 years. Iv been to the doctor and i’m pretty sure he just brushed it off as nothing which is really infuriating. I’m pretty over weight and i figured that has a lot to do with it. I also have a great deal of stress in my life which probably also has something to do with it but its starting to really affect my life. I cant go out as much, if i do i have to take some pepto which doesn’t always work. Like today i was gunna go out with my gf but i got bad diarrhea on and off (still have it) which ruined the night. I really want to take care of this so i plan on eating better but i just want to make sure its a weight issue and nothing more serious. Id go to the doctor but i don’t really have the money for it, nor will i for a while. Anyone have something similar to me? Btw i dont think its cancer or anything terrible like that due to the fact iv had it for 5 years or so.
When you can, you might want to get tested for food allergies, also for allergic reaction to gluten, which is in a lot of food that we eat. Stress will aggravate any food allergy.

Experts assert that it is a viral disease, because most of the reported cases occur after the patient has just gotten from a bout of other viral diseases, like cough, colds and influenza.
A patient suffering from chronic fatigue may experience the difficult symptoms of the disease for a few days. At its worst, chronic fatigue can last up to several weeks, especially it the illness is not appropriately treated.
Experts and researchers have established the usual symptoms that will indicate it’s onset among patients. These symptoms include: weight loss, tingling sensations, shortness of breath, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, night sweats, nausea, morning stiffness, jaw pain, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, diarrhea, chronic cough, alcohol intolerance, abdominal pain and bloating.
The patient is also expected to experience sleep disturbance, headaches, sore throat, inability to concentrate, enlarged lymph nodes in the armpits and neck, muscle soreness and great exhaustion following a regular exercise.
Chronic fatigue is divided into two types based on symptoms. The Sudded Onset type occurs abruptly and resembles a usual viral attack, similar to the symptoms of flu and other infection.
Gradual Onset manifests symptoms on a gradual pacing. Thus, patients acquiring this type of the disease don’t easily realize that they are already suffering from the viral ailment.
To know more about chronic fatigue requires knowledge about its origin. Among the usual causes pinpointed for the onset of chronic fatigue are: hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, low blood pressure, allergies, virus infection, dysfunction of the body’s immune system and iron deficiency anemia.
Hormonal changes in the adrenal glands, pituitary and hypothalamus are also cited for the onset of this disease.
Cure
There are numerous cures for chronic fatigue syndrome, but is advised that patients must consult their doctor before taking in any medication. Among the most common category of medications to treat it, anti-depressants are the most popular.
That is because anti-depressants surely help patients relax more even with their feeling of restlessness due to the onset of the viral disease.
However, there are also many forms of diet that can effectively help curtail the disease.
To start with, a patient can take a water cure diet. This form of diet is the simplest and can be easily executed as long as the patient is disciplined enough and determined.
The water cure diet would see that the patient must take water that is equivalent to half of the body’s weight. For example, the body weighs 150 lbs. The patient must then take ounces of water daily that is equivalent to 75 lbs.
It is also recommended that the patient take in at least a quarter of salt for about every quart of water that he drinks. The salt can also be used in food.
There is no restrictions in food intake, but the water cure diet restricts patients from drinking alcoholic and caffeinated beverages because they are diuretics.
Recommended food to include in diets
No special diets other than water cure is recommended for chronic fatigue patients. However, the patients are advised to avoid food groups that are considered toxic to the body.
These food group includes aspartame (a synthetic form of sugar), refined oils, food additives, chlorinated water, margarine and hydrogenated fats, junk foods, alcoholic and softdrinks and chocolates.
Instead, experts advise patients to include the following in their food intake: organic food, sea vegetables, olive oil, lemonade, maple syrup, seaweeds, vegetable juices, unrefined sea salt, and foods that are rich in essential fatty acids.
Knowledge of how the food replenishes the body will greatly help a patient understand more about the usual food and substances that are recommended to help the body cope up and recover from fatigue.
Sticking to the normal, healthy lifestyle would surely boost the function of the body’s immune system, making it more resistant to the future onset of the disease.

Has anyone ever taken Prozac and experienced chronic diarrhea? I know this is a strange question but I really?
would like to know if anyone has been there because I’m starting to worry….I’ve been on 40 mg for 2 months and have had diarrhea for over a week now going 5-7 times a day..It sucks but I don’t want to go to the dr. if its just the meds..
thank you violet!
It’s a side effect.
Prozac manipulates your serotonin, and the majority of the serotonin is in the intestines (not the brain).
You might need to start taking some pro-biotics or eating a lot of yogurt to help rebalance you body’s natural bacteria if you’ve been having diarrhea for some time.
If it continues, see your doctor about possibly using something else.

Laxatives are not good if it is taken periodically. Few with constipation problems, may resort to them and very soon get addicted to it. More over, they do not absorb the fat in the food and make a person very lean and there would be a sudden weight loss. Green tea and herbal tea are good for skin and stomach but are not good if it is consumed in the long run. They lead to dramatic weight loss.
It is often not recommended to have over the counter medications. Women who are pregnant should strictly avoid this. They often experience heart burning sensation and indigestion during pregnancy. Remedy to this is not alternate medicines or stool softeners but natural products like probiotics which are present in curds, milk, soy milk must be consumed. Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruits as it is not only good for your stomach problems but are also good due to the nutritional value it has. Both you and your to- be born kid will enjoy the benefits of the hidden nutrients, vitamins and minerals in fruits and vegetables.
Some have also revealed that it can have undesired effects on women. It disturbs the menstrual cycle or your fertility. If you get menstrual cramps it could be due to the use of such laxatives. Use of senna in women who are planning for a kid and want to get pregnant should avoid it!
Other women (non pregnant) or men, remember not to take them more than what is recommended. Vomiting, diarrhea, fainting, rectal bleeding, nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting, dehydration and electrolyte disorder may be few of the disorder. In extreme cases, it may lead to surgery and removal of large colon due to prolonged severe constipation and pain.
Switch over to natural products, drink lots of water. Water therapy is the best therapy to treat chronic constipation. As soon as you get up in the morning, do not brush your teeth. Drink luke warm water, at first you can start of with 2-3 glasses of water and do not eat anything immediately after this. The more you drink, the better it is for your stomach. Your body needs water for its functioning and it is a natural stool softner. After half an hour, you can brush your teeth and have your break fast. Through out the day, do not forget to drink 8-10 glasses. It is recommended to have one to two litres of water every day! Drink water and avoid all kinds of ailments!

Can antibiotics cause digestive disorders?
I used to take a lot of antibiotics as a kid/teen. 3 years ago, I started to develop chronic digestive problems (like diarrhea). I just wonder, could antibiotics eventually cause a digestive disorder?
It has majorly effected my life. A mix of fear and having these digestive problems has made me homebound a lot of the time. I went to a few doctors, they have no idea what could be wrong, unless they do a test such as a colonoscopy, and I do not think I can handle doing something like that.
Yes!
I use to have GERD and diverticulosis but not since I permanently changed my diet.
