Home Remedies for Diarrhea
1. Avoid high fiber foods like whole grain cereals, whole pulses with husk.
2. In case of chronic diarrhea, the water and mineral losses have to be replenished, the nutritional requirements have to be met, and motions have to be reduced.
3. In case of chronic diarrhea, protein intake is doubled, carbohydrate is also increased but fat has to be decreased. Mineral losses have to be supplemented. Vitamins have to be given as the intestinal flora gets disturbed.
4. Avoid fried fatty foods. Also do not eat spices, pickles, chutneys and strongly flavored vegetables like cabbage, turnip, radish, capsicum, onion and garlic.

6. Black plum (Jamun ) mashed with water taken twice daily helps cure diarrhea with blood.
7. Add 12 grams of dry coriander powder to 12 grams of sugar candy powdered, mix in half a cup of water and drink. This is useful home remedy for bloody diarrhea.
Home Remedies for Dysentery
1. Curd, rice and pulses taken with sugar candy help in this problem.
2. Eat fenugreek vegetable recipe daily or fenugreek seed powder three grams with curd. This is very effective home remedy for dysentery.
3. Make vegetables of 170 grams of plant of Amaranthus polygamus (Cholai) without spice and oil. It is helpful in dysentery.
4. Pomelo (chakotra) is also useful fruit in treating dysentery.
5. Boil tamarind (imli) in milk one-fourth. Drink this mixture with sugar twice or thrice a day.
6. Take equal quantities of dry fruit of Indian gooseberry (amla) and black salt. Immerse the dry fruit in water and when they become soft, grate them with black salt. Now make small tablets of one-centimeter diameter. Take twice a day half an hour after meals.

question about diarrhea?
I haven’t been feeling the best the past couple of days, I have a really bad cold. Worst cold I have ever had, I think it might be a sinus infection, or infection of some sort. Yesterday, my stomach was really sore about an hour after everytime I ate. I had chicken, 2 days ago?, I had it with others and they seem to be fine. I haven’t eaten anything that could even have gone bad. I actually have had too much of an upset stomach to eat much. Today I woke up, and had liquid stools, and an extremely upset stomach. Every half an hour I have been back and forth to the bathroom, and my stomach is bubbling and really sore. I’ve probably gone close to 16 times now. I have a sibling who had the flu earlier this week (diarrhea and vomiting). What could this be? and how long should it take to get better?
It should get better after a few days, maybe 2-3. Just stay hydrated. But I would go do a the doctors too if I were you.

Do not inhale or swallow the repellent, or allow it to get in the eyes. The repellent should also not be applied to wounds or broken skin. There are some reports of safety concerns regarding the use of DEET during pregnancy.
Alcohol goes through the placenta and enters your baby’s system. Drinking can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, a lifelong condition that can include problems in vision, hearing, learning and behavior. No one knows how much alcohol is safe, so doctors advise that women not drink at all during pregnancy. If you can, stop drinking when you are trying to become pregnant because the greatest damage from alcohol occurs early in pregnancy.
Take no medications (including over-the-counter preparations) unless suggested by your doctor or nurse midwife. If you are currently taking a medication for a health problem, discuss it with doctor or nurse midwife.
A limited intake of caffeine (up to two cups of coffee per day) seems to present no special risk during pregnancy. Eating or drinking larger amounts may be a problem for your growing baby. It is probably best to limit the amount of foods and drinks containing caffeine such as coffee, tea, cola and chocolate.

it sounds like u r in the very early stages of labour, this can last for a while. If u r 1cm dialated then it is early and taking advice from the lady above me would be best, paracetamol and a warm bath is best. to move things along try staying on ur feet and let gravity do its work. There is no point in goin to hospital just now. try stay in ur familliar soroundings for as long as possible. the hospital is boring! at u home u can get on with preparing for the baby coming! good luck!

Fatigue is common. Around 20% of Americans claim to have fatigue intense enough to interfere with their having a normal life. Physical causes are estimated at 20-60%, and emotional causes are the other 40-80%. The challenge is how to tell what is causing your fatigue and whether it is serious enough to see your doctor.
Fatigue Symptoms

Tiredness, diarrhea and nausea?
Over that last week i have been suffering with diarrhea, nausea and extreme tiredness. I do suffer with IBS but i know what my ‘trigger foods’ are and dont eat them – also have had quite a good week so not stress related! Any ideas?
i have not actually been sick (yet!!)

Have you been tested for celiac or microscopic colitis? Many people who are diagnosed with IBS actually have one of those instead. If your doctor has not done an celiac blood screening panel I would suggest you get one asap, especially if one of your trigger foods is anything dairy, wheat, barley, rye or anything with hidden gluten in it.
I’m assuming you have had a colonoscopy in order for your doctor to give you a diagnosis of IBS? If you have had no testing at all, get yourself to a GI asap. Many docs use “IBS” as a diagostic dump bucket to explain away symptoms without actually testing for anything else. Horrible thing to do, really.
Good luck, hope this helps. I was told I had IBS and lactose intolerance for over 10 years when in reality I had Celiac disease. If I had not figured it out myself and demanded the celiac screening blood test to get my diagnosis I could be very ill, or almost dead with cancer right now. It happened to me, it can happen to you!

Acidity is quite a simple problem when it begins, but it can get out of hand easily if not taken seriously. It is a common ailment and results from a wrong diet. The excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach causes acidity. Prolonged acidity can cause chronic indigestion, arthritis, gout, ulcers and even false angina pains.
Acidity tends to have a much higher incidence in highly emotional and nervous individuals. It is also more common in the developed and industrialized nations.
What are the symptoms?
The main symptoms of acidity are:
• Dyspepsia and heartburn
• Discomfort, burning sensation in the upper part of the gut area, especially after eating.
• Regurgitation of the gastric contents
• loss of appetite
• nausea, vomiting
• feeling of sickness
• flatulence accompanied by burping
• constipation
Causes of acidity:
Acidity may be caused by many conditions such as:
# Medical conditions, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, stomach ulcers
# Hyperthyroidism – excessive secretion of the thyroid gland.
# Anxiety, anger and stress.
# Constipation, flatulence or intestinal gases.
# Artificial stimulants or the thought of nearing the food time can create acidity.
# Excessive intake of stimulants like tea, coffee etc.
# Excessive intake of fried foods, spicy or pungent food,
# As a side-effect of some drugs used for treating other illnesses
# Overeating along with bad food combinations. Overeating puts extra load on the stomach, liver, kidneys.
# Eating too rapidly, therefore improper salivation of food.
# Excessive smoking, intake of alcohol
# Tendency to eat and drink together
# Insomnia
# Lack of exercise.
# Long gaps between meals leads to acidity, as it gives the acid in the stomach more time to act.
How is acidity treated?
Try to identify and avoid foods that disagree with the digestive system. Also, try not to eat too quickly and avoid stress.
Some people need to be given drugs to control their condition.
Medicines to treat acidity include:
• Antacids, which neutralize the acid in the stomach.
• Acid suppressants, which reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
What type of diet should be followed?
# Avoid canned and junk food, artificially ripened fruits and vegetables or those kept in cold storage. Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables.
# Avoid a heavy intake of spices and aerated drinks that are highly acidic and strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones.
# Cold beverages with or after meals should be particularly avoided. Cold drinks dilute the enzymes and put stress on the digestive system. As a result, the food gets fermented leads to acidity.
# Avoid excess smoking, tea and coffee. Both nicotine and caffeine are directly related to problems of acidity. Instead, take coconut water, fresh water melon, cucumber juice and thin-skinned lemons because these are alkaline.
# Bitter gourd, amla (Indian gooseberry) juice is an excellent remedy for acidity.
# Benign lactic acid present in buttermilk, yoghurt are helpful. Raita prepared with fresh curd, grated cucumber, fresh coriander, tomato is a sure shot remedy in aiding digestion, and helps remove acidity.
# If you are overweight, lose some immediately. Those who are overweight put too much pressure on the esophageal sphincter, which leads to reflux of the contents of the stomach into the oesophagus, and heartburn follows.
# Drink plenty of water, as it aids digestion and helps flush out toxins. Eat only when hungry because digestive juices are released in the stomach only when one is hungry.
# Go green. Green leafy vegetables and sprouts contain vitamins B and E that facilitate the elimination of acids from the body.
# Get moving! Not enough physical activity means not enough sweat, which in turn results in uric acid being deposited in the body.
# Avoid stress and get adequate amount of sleep. Insomnia disturbs the digestive system.
# Bring about a change in food and habits that is conducive to overall good health.
Some home remedies to treat and prevent acidity -
i. Mix 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/4 teaspoon methi seeds, 1/4 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp ajwain seeds. Roast them on a low flame. Add a pinch of hing (asafetida) and salt and stir for a minute. Grind to a powder when cool and store. Mix 1/2 tsp of powder with 1 teaspoon of curd. Eat twice a day for quick relief.
ii. Pineapple acts as a tonic and relieves digestive disorders. Half a glass of fresh pineapple juice should be taken after a meal for treating and preventing acidity.
iii. Eat almonds to give relief to symptoms of acidity.
iv. Chewing of a carrot increases saliva and quickens digestion by supplying the digestive system with necessary enzymes, minerals and vitamins. The juice of carrot is also beneficial.
v. A very simple remedy for acidity is thin butter-milk mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper powder. For better results, an equal quantity of cumin (jeera) powder and rock salt is to be added to the buttermilk.
vi. A piece of jaggery or gur after lunch and dinner prevents acidity.
vii. Take one piece of clove and suck it slowly. This will give you relief from acidity.
viii. Eat a cup of vanilla ice cream or drink a glass of cold milk to get heartburn and acidity relief within minutes

Is there any antacid tablets that do not contain talc? Would like to use for stomach ulcer pain relief.
pretty sure I have a stomach ulcer of some kind, this pain has been bothering me for quite some time, I recently read an article that advised me to try some antacid pills that would help stop the pain by calming stomach acids, tried 2 tablets and the pain went away, I just noticed on these TUMS that it contains talc, which I have heard is not good to consume. Ive been trying to cut down on all these insane chemicals in our everyday life and was wondering if anyone knows of any stomach acid relief techniques or and antacid tablets that do not contain talc. thank you

Swine flu question. cause i know we cant get enough of those.?
For a few days, I’ve had that following symptoms: stuffy nose
sore/itchy throat
body aches
chills
stomach ache
diarrhea
nausea
I never actually threw up or anything, and it didn’t last all week, but like 4 days. Would that be the swine flu? or am i just being paranoid?lol
You could have the Swine Flu without having ALL of the symptoms. Since it seems to be really be going around right now the chances of you having it are pretty good. So have you been running a fever? That is a pretty good sign you have it too. Most people are getting a mild case of it. That may be what you have.
