chronic and

As there are many disease in the world , but the most ,which happen in routine life are cough, flu , diarrhea, gout, etc today i will tell something

  • What is diarrhea ?

              Diarrhea is the condition
              of watery, loose bowel
movements or stools
which occur
frequently.

  • Causes of diarrhea:

Acute diarrhea is usually related to a bacterial, viral, or parasitic infection.

is usually related to functional disorders such as irritable
bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease.

  • ACUTE DIARRHEA

1)Bacterial infections :
Several types of bacteria consumed
through  contaminated  or  water
 can cause diarrhea.
Common culprits include
Campylobacter, Salmonella,
Shigella, & E. coli
2)Viral infections:
  Many viruses cause diarrhea, including
rotavirus, Norwalk virus,
 cytomegalovirus ,herpes simplex virus,
 and viral hepatitis.
3) Parasites:
Parasites can enter the body through
food or water and settle in the
digestive system. Parasites that cause
diarrhea include Giardia lamblia,
 Entamoeba histolytica, and
Cryptosporidium

  • CHRONIC DIARRHEA

Inflammatory bowel disease

The two overlapping types here are of unknown origin:

1)Ulcerative colitis is marked by chronic bloody diarrhea and inflammation mostly affects the distal colon near the rectum.

2)Crohn’s disease typically affects fairly well demarcated segments of bowel in the colon and often affects the end of the small bowel

3)Irritable bowel syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder characterized most commonly by cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea.

Other important causes:

Ischemic bowel disease. This usually affects older people and can be due to blocked arteries & cause diarrhea.

Bowel cancer: Some (but not all) bowel cancers may have associated diarrhea. Cancer of the large intestine is most common.

Hormone-secreting tumors: some hormones (e.g. serotonin) can cause diarrhea if excreted in excess (usually from a tumor).

Bile salt diarrhea: excess bile salt entering the colon rather than being absorbed at the end of the small intestine can cause diarrhea, typically shortly after eating. Bile salt diarrhea is a bad side-effect of gallbladder removal. It is usually treated with cholestyramine, a bile acid sequestrant.

Medicines that cause diarrhea

Laxatives, such as Correctol such as Correctol, Dulcolax, Ex-Lax, or  Feen-a-Mint

•Antibiotics, such as ampicillin, amoxicillin, clindamycin, tetracycline, and cephalosporins. •Antacids containing magnesium •Diuretics, such as furosemide or thiazides •Antidepressants, such as Fluoxetine (Prozac) or Sertraline (Zoloft)

When should a doctor be consulted?

Diarrhea is not usually harmful, but it can become dangerous or signal a more serious problem. You should see the doctor if you experience any of the following:

•diarrhea for more than 3 days

•severe pain in the abdomen or rectum

•a fever of 102 degrees or higher

•blood in your stool or black, tarry stools

•signs of dehydration

how to differentiate between swine flu and regular flu?

how do you differentiate between swine flu and regular flu?
My teenager’s symptoms are: tiredness, chronic coughing, hot fever then cold, feels heady and sleeping a lot. hes Not vomiting or got diarrhea. is this regular flu? im giving him occasional paracetamol which he said helps and honey and lemon hot drinks and healthy dinners which hes eating ok. i think he just needs to sleep it out and eat well
most likely to kill you erm that’s most helpful and encouraging ….NOT!

anyhow he’s recovering feeling much brighter now thankfully. duno which flu it is but hes getting better without medication…just good food paracetamol and lots of warm rest and me nurse betty to run after him getting hot drinks and nice food! haha
thankyou blue well hes not feeling sick at all and has no worrying symptoms. he’s just sleeping more than usual and got a persistent cough. a paracetamol seems to take the headyness away.

You can’t really without having a swab. But unless there are complications, management is the same as any other viral infection. Just push fluids, give him paracetamol and tell him to rest.

Is it normal to have diarrhea, nausea and a headache after donating blood?

I did it about 2 hours ago. Afterwords I felt a bit faint but that passed when I ate and drank. Now I’m home I’ve just had very bad diarrhea, I’m feeling nauseous and my head is pounding. Is this normal or something to worry about? It was my first time so I’m freaked out. I’ve also got stomach cramps. Will I be ok?
When I was giving blood they said that it was very slow to come out – it took 25 minutes for 1 pint- , I’m not sure if that makes any difference.

I donated blood once and almost passed out right on the table. They continued to draw blood until they had 3/4 of a pint – enough to be considered a full unit. I started to go into shock. I laid on the table for about 20 minutes before they let me go. I had to stop in the bathroom on the way back to my work place because I had diarrhea. I felt weak, dizzy, and nauseous for about three weeks. I had the stomach cramps you mentioned also. This is not typical of blood donors, but it can happen.

I have a very sensitive system and you probably do too. My body does not want to give up any amount of blood. I don’t give blood anymore. I can’t afford three weeks down time after donating.

chronic diarrhea coffee

The Most Common Causes Of From Overeating To Life-Threatening And Everything In Between

What are the underlying causes of diarrhea? When you eat, is turned into a liquid form in your stomach. As it goes through the intestines, the moisture is mostly absorbed leaving a semi-solid stool. But, when you have diarrhea, the liquids are not absorbed sufficiently. This leaves a watery bowel movement. The causes of diarrhea are the liquids not being absorbed can go from eating too much or too quickly to the colon not being healthy.

What are the most common causes of chronic diarrhea? Viruses can be a leading contributor. Some common strains include the Norwalk virus, cytomegalovirus, viral hepatitis and herpes simplex. For children, the rotovirus is a leading cause of acute cases. Any diarrhea caused by a viral infection can be spread easily. Bacteria and parasites can also be causes of diarrhea. This is very common when traveling in developing countries. It has gained the name of the traveler’s diarrhea or Montezuma’s revenge. Many medicines can cause diarrhea. Antibiotics are common diarrhea causes since they kill both good and bad bacteria. When the bacteria balance is disturbed, it can cause diarrhea. Over use of laxatives can also cause chronic diarrhea.

What are some other causes of diarrhea? When someone is lactose intolerant, this can lead to watery stools. Fructose intolerance is a common cause especially in children. Sorbitol and mannitol, common artificial sweeteners, can cause diarrhea in many people. Long term consumption of alcohol or coffee can be causes of diarrhea. After abdominal surgery, diarrhea is a common symptom during recovery. Diabetes and pancreatitis are often accompanied by diarrhea. Anxiety and stress can cause the stomach and intestines to react in funny ways. Endocrine diseases such as hyperthyroidism or Addison’s disease can be causes of diarrhea.

Other digestive disorders can be causes of severe diarrhea. Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease. The lower small intestine becomes inflamed and food is not absorbed as it should be. Ulcerative colitis is another inflammatory bowel disorder. This affects the colon with swelling and ulcers. Celiac disease is one of the causes of diarrhea. It is caused by a gluten allergy. If a person who is affected eats something with gluten, the immune system attacks the small intestine. This causes permanent damage. Irritable bowel syndrome is another one of the diarrhea causes. The cause of IBS is not fully known. Some characterize it as an overly sensitive colon. People who have had gastroenteritis often have problems with their bowels afterwards. Colon cancer is one of the rare causes of diarrhea, but should be ruled out in severe cases.

diarrhea with menstruation

Dealing With the Discomfort of Menstruation

Have you seen the recent commercial that states quite plainly, “There’s a reason they call it the curse!”?  For most women, menstruation can seem just like that – a curse or punishment put upon us for a sin we haven’t committed.  Every month we deal with the cramps, bloating, fatigue, aching muscles, headaches, digestive problems, and an entire list of other ailments simply because we’re a normal healthy adult woman that is not pregnant.  You would think that there would be an easier way for a woman to actually experience menstruation but unfortunately it seems as if most women will need to take matters into their own hands and proactively address the pain and discomfort of this problem on their own.

In order to do that effectively it can help to understand a bit about why there is usually so much pain and discomfort with menstruation in the first place.  Much of this has to do with the surge of female hormones that the body produces in order to properly perform this function.  Hormones affect the body in a variety of ways, and what many women don’t understand is their affect on the digestive system.  Many women complain of gas, diarrhea, and other digestive disorders during their time of the month.  This is simply the hormones and is only temporary.  Other problems and pains during this time of the month are typically caused by dehydration.  The body needs to produce extra blood during this cycle and blood is made mostly from water.  When there isn’t enough water in the system to do this, the body will pull it from the muscles and organs.  This is usually why women get headaches and muscle aches during this time.  These areas of the body are being leeched of moisture.  Many stomach cramps that one gets during menstruation are also caused by dehydration.

Most women hesitate to drink water during their cycle and even limit the amount of water they drink because they are often bloated; they figure that since the body is retaining water then they should drink less of it.  This is actually the worst thing you can do during this time of the month, and usually the body retains water when it doesn’t get enough of it in the first place.  Drinking plenty of fluids will not only help with the cramps but it should reduce the bloating as well.

Regular physical exercise is imperative for women to avoid a lot of the pain they would normally feel during this time of the month.  Exercise keeps the muscles loose and limber and so they won’t cramp or ache as badly during this time.  Some women also report more pain when they eat a lot of meat or chocolate; you need to be aware of how certain foods affect you during menstruation just as someone with allergies would need to be aware of this as well.

Most women feel that the discomfort of menstruation is a small price to pay for the privilege of bearing children, and if you’re proactive and take good care of yourself you may be able to lessen any pain you feel during this time as well.

Soy Isoflavones may ease menopause symptoms for without creating estrogen related problems and may help regulate hormone levels in premenopausal woman.

Calcium is needed to counteract the effects of mineralization of the bone.

Vitamin B taken together as B-Complex work together as a team to perform vital biological processes including energy production and efficient metabolic function.

Vitamin C is essential for defending the body against pollution and infection.  It enhances the immune system and aids in growth and repair of bone and tissue.  It also aids in the production of anti stress hormones.

Flaxseed Oil benefits include relieving menopausal hot flashes.

Vitamin E accelerates wound healing and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

What’s wrong with me? Am i sick?

I’m 5’3 and weight 130 pound, and in the 7th grade and im 13. I’m Really athletic and have an “athletic shaped body”, but whenever i take the school physical, the nurse says im not fit or healthy.

So I decided to Go on a diet and exercise program, and i cant eat. so recently, im never hungry, and im drinking water like im breathing air. Whenever i put in my mouth it feels like i cant breathe and my throat starts to close. Whenever i force myself, I instantly start gagging and puke it right back up. I’m having diarrhea all the time and im constantly cramping.

The school nurse says i just need to go to the bathroom and doctors say its because of my menstruation. Its scaring me, because im not getting all the vitamins i need. I do want to lose some weight, but not like this. I’m going to be kicked off track because im sick too. please help really soon!!!

I’m almost 5’3″ and I weight about 110. Is the nurse measuring your body fat? If not, she shouldn’t be telling you that you aren’t not fit. Muscle weights more than fat.

Eat 5-7 times a day, small meals, lots of protein and decrease your carbs.

You have to figure out why your throat is closing.

You have diarrhea and the nurse says you need to go to the bathroom? My advice, stop talking to her.

Some girls do get diarrhea when they have their period. Are you on your period?
