Relieving Gel

Varied uses of Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera is one of the oldest medicinal plants known to man. This “miracle plant” has more than 200 varieties though only 4 to 5 of them are used for medicinal purposes. Aloe Vera is also known as Ghee Kanwar and Ghreetakumari in different parts of the world. The benefits of this wonder plant are well-known all around the globe.

Curing internal problems of the body

Aloe Vera gel is known to provide relief from kidney diseases, stomach problems and severe headaches. The yellow gel called “latex” which is found on the backside of the leaf acts as a laxative and helps relieving constipation and bloating. The Magnesium lactate present in Aloe Vera is also known to act as an antihistamine, thus bringing considerable relief from chest inflammations and sinus trouble. The Aloe gel that has been extracted from the plant should be blended with water or juice before being consumed.

Curing skin problems

Aloe Vera gel can be blended with wheat germ oil and sunflower oil to reduce bruising of the skin.  In case of cuts, skin abrasions, sunburns, blisters, rashes, insect bites, cold sores and scalds, the gel should be applied topically. It will prevent infection and fight bacteria as it acts as an antiseptic. Applying the gel on the wound twice or thrice a day will promote healing. Women have been also known to use Aloe gel with their cream to moisture and soften the skin. Aloe is believed to regenerate the skin and reduce acne, eczema, wrinkles, pigmentation and sun spots.

Curing hair problems

Aloe Vera gel is an extremely effective treatment for dandruff, psoriasis, dermatitis and hair loss. Try substituting your regular hair gel with pure Aloe gel and see the effect it has on your hair quality.

Curing dental problems

Massaging Aloe Vera gel directly onto the gums will help reduce , inflammation and promote healing in case of damage. It will also reduce plaque and fight tooth decay. You can use the Aloe gel along with your toothpaste.

Taking care of the eyes

You can make an eye wash by mixing a cup of water with half-a-teaspoon of powdered aloe gel. You can also add a teaspoon of boric acid. Filter the mixture to get rid of any hard particles which may cause irritation to the eyes and use it for washing the eyes.

Curing muscle pain

Aloe Vera gel is believed to bring about a lot of relief to people who suffer from muscle pain, sprain, strain and arthritic pain. It gets absorbed into the skin quickly. You can use the gel on the skin twice or thrice a day with a cold compress.

If you want to use Aloe Vera gel regularly for treating ailments, you can grow it on your own. It is pretty easy to grow as long as there is a lot of sunlight. It will not grow well in cold and dry weather though. So go ahead and enjoy the full benefits of this miracle plant.

Is this safe for my cat to lick…?

I hurt my back and I’ve been using this called Flexall. The active ingredient is Menthol 16%. Apparently, my cat loves the smell/taste of it. When I lean against pillows, some of the gel gets onto the pillow cases and I’ve noticed that my cat loves to sniff/lick my pillow cases. As soon as I see him doing this, I take him away from the pillow. Even though he looks adorable licking a pillow =). Also, he’s tried to lick my back. Is this safe for him to be doing? Or should I make sure he doesn’t lick anything that has the gel on it?

It’s probably toxic if ingested or inhaled in large quantities, but licking your pillow is probably not a big deal. Be sure to keep the tube out of your cat’s reach, though! And don’t let it lick your skin etc after applying it.

btw, catnip is in the mint family, and many cats are attracted to all kinds of mints, as well as chemical derivatives such as menthol.

How Does Caffeine Affect Pregnancy

How Does Caffeine affect Pregnancy? This is a very common question and act as an important role to a healthy pregnancy.

Caffeine belongs to the xanthine chemical group.It is actually a drug, much like nicotine and alcohol.Caffeine is also addictive, which is why so many people crave their coffee and cola! Caffeine, also known as guareine and mateine, is a naturally-occurring substance found in a number of plants, beans, and seeds.It is also found in a number of foods and beverages, including: tea, coffeecolas, hot chocolate,chocolate, various nuts,etc.

Caffeine is also found in certain medications, particularly those for migraine headaches, and in some dietary supplements.

Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. In moderate doses, caffeine can:

* increase alertness

* reduce fine motor coordination

* cause insomnia

* cause headaches, nervousness and dizziness

* increased heart rate

* increased blood pressure

* increased sweat production

* cause symptoms of nausea and lightheadedness, as well as respiratory problems

In massive doses, caffeine is lethal. A fatal dose of caffeine has been calculated to be more than 10 grams (about 170 mg/kg body weight) – this is the same as drinking 80 to 100 cups of coffee in rapid succession – not an easy thing to do.Most care providers suggest eliminating all caffeinated foods and beverages from your pregnancy diet. Yet, some pregnant women find this especially difficult, particularly because so many items contain small amounts of caffeine. If you are finding it hard to eliminate all caffeine from your diet, one caffeinated beverage or item once in awhile probably won’t make much difference to your baby’s . However, it is important to realize that caffeine does pose a risk to your little one, especially in large amounts, so work to reduce that caffeine intake.

The table below shows the studies of Caffeine and birth weight and duration of pregnancy

The following info displays common caffeinated products and the amounts of caffeine they contain:

Drink/Food/Supplement | Amt. of Drink/Food | Amt. of Caffeine

SoBe No Fear | 8 ounces | 83 mg

: U.S. Food and Drug Administration, National Soft Drink Association, Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Caffeine enters the bloodstream through the stomach and small intestine and can have its effects as soon as 15 minutes after it is consumed. Once in the body, caffeine will stay around for hours: it takes about 6 hours for one half of the caffeine to be eliminated.

Though researchers debate how much caffeine is acceptable during pregnancy, there is evidence to suggest than any amount will cause some physical effects on your little one. This is because caffeine passes through your placenta and is absorbed by your baby. Adults are able to break down caffeine fairly quickly, thanks to chemicals inside of our body. However, your developing baby can’t do this as efficiently. This means that caffeine will be stored inside of his blood for longer periods of time, and could reach dangerously high levels.

Caffeine also affects other aspects of your baby’s health. It is known to increase your baby’s heart rate and may affect how much he moves in utero. Because caffeine is a diuretic, it can also affect the nutrition your baby receives from you. Caffeine intake may cause you to absorb less iron and calcium from foods, a possible detriment to your baby’s overall fetal development.

Recent studies have focused on the effects of coffee intake during pregnancy. A large-scale Danish study polled more than 80,000 pregnant women regarding their coffee intake. This study found that women who drank large amounts of coffee during pregnancy were more likely to experience a miscarriage. Women who drank more than 2 cups of coffee a day had a slightly increased risk of miscarriage, while those that drank 8 or more cups experienced a 59% increase. This is why it is so important to watch your caffeine intake during pregnancy.

Interestingly, this Danish study found that this considerably greater risk of miscarriage was specific to coffee. Other caffeinated beverages and foods did not present the same significant increase, leading researchers to believe that other chemicals contained in coffee could possibly play a role in causing miscarriage.

To quit smoking and drinking can be difficult, to eliminate caffeine from your daily diet can also be hard. However, you can do something to reduce your caffeine intake and ensure that you and your baby stay healthy throughout your pregnancy.

* Exercise regularly to help combat any withdrawal symptoms and to stay energized.

* Stay hydrated. Drinking lots of water will help you manage cravings and fatigue.

* Cut back on your caffeine intake slowly. Going cold turkey can cause you to experience withdrawal symptoms, like headaches and nausea.

* Try replacing your caffeinated beverages with non-caffeinated ones, like decaf coffee.

Therefore, it is obvious that to get an idea of how Does Caffeine affect Pregnancy is very important to keep the pregnant women and their babies healthy.

Is 130mg of caffeine enough to keep you up at night? Got a headache and Excedrin contains that much caffeine?

I have a huge headache and took some extra strength Excedrin. And it says it has 65mg per tablet and I took two. Is this enough to keep me up all night?

Excedrin has never worked for me. My plan of attack is this:

First I take 600mg of Ibuprofen (any brand will do), along with 1000mg of Tylenol (generic is fine). This way you’re hitting the headache in two ways: with an anti-inflammatory and a reducer. It will stop the inflammation in your head and raise your tolerance to what’re called painful stimuli.

If that doesn’t work after 2 doses (every 4-6 hours), I move on to my prescriptions. First I try 2 Midrins, which is a combination pain reducer, vein constrictor, and sedative. That usually does the trick. If it’s a REALLY bad one, then I take a 10mg Maxalt melt with 50mg Indomethacin. Maxalt is what’s called a triptan, which works on a certain part of your head where pain usually emulates, and indomethacin is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

Good luck, hope my “plan” works for you. Obviously you will need to get the prescription choices from a doctor. Don’t worry – they’re not narcotics so if you ask for them, you won’t get yelled at.

Stomach pain and diarrhea after eating…lasts only 1 day…any home remedies I can take to help?

My husband and I just moved to CA, and I am living in the Mountains. We went over someones house three weeks ago for dinner, and had tap water…some hours later in the night, my stomach started to hurt and I ended up getting diarrhea and upset stomach. Then I took charcoal, and was fine the next day… and the next week. Then I went to that same ladies house the next week (thinking it was just the tap water), and ate, and the same thing happened, lasting only ONE DAY!
Now finally, last week, I just went out to eat at a vegetarian Chinese restaurant and I ended up with the same results for 1 day…ever since my stomach occasionally has a little pain, but I have been okay so far…I know the charcoal works, but is there any other home remedies, or advice you can give me on this matter? I am thinking about trying Apple Cider Vinegar after all I heard about it? What do you think??

Sounds like you’re getting contaminated water, that isn’t pure enough. May have germs or even parasites in it.

Best to take a multi-accidophulis capsule to help keep your intestines full of the good bacteria which actually digest our foods for us. The bad water is killing the good bacteria and overpowering them. The stomach hurts because of same, altho’ the accidoph. is in the intestine not the stomach.

YOu also might take Imodium or the walmart equivalent because I have chronic diahrrea, and it works well to stop the runs. You need to stop the runs FIRST, otherwise, you lose badly needed fluids.

The accidophilus is used as regular maintenance. YOu can get some at Walmart, but I’d suggest going to local store and getting a bottle with different kinds, because the body can use them to work better.

Also, when the good bacteria is low or weak, germs can get into the body easier, because it’s the stomach and intestine which kills the germs mostly. If bacteria are weak, they won’t kill the germs enough, and then they get into blood stream and you get sick!!

You might also take garlic capsules, try 1000mg. Garlic helps to clean the blood of bad stuff.

Deliberately Unemployed, Individuals Who Won’t Search for Jobs

Unemployment has reached record highs. The economy around the globe is showing signs of an economicl breakdown. Evening news broadcasts are filled with stories of home foreclosures and personal financial tragedy. Desperate citizens who once held good, steady jobs in our nation’s manufacturing plants, in the automotive industry, and even the retail sector are in search of new forms of employment. The American government recently unleashed the stimulus package which was supposed to create jobs and stop the decline of the fledgling economy. This stimulus either worked great, or didn’t work at all depending on which news network you watch. So can we trust the current unemployment statistics? And how does attitude figure into the jobless statistics of American citizens?

Unemployment is currently averaging approximately 10% across America. Where does this figure come from? There are plenty of people in America without jobs, but how do we calculate an exact amount? There are the people who are disabled who would love to work but are unable. There are people in the prison system who may like to be work but are currently unemployable. How about individuals working part-time jobs who would like to be working full-time jobs. There are the independent contractors, or the self-employed,  whose state of employment can fluctuate based on the season or on the economy. Certainly there are other people as well who aren’t in any of these circumstances but who may or may not get counted. They may be briefly in-between jobs for reasons of career advancement, at home due to an injury, and so on and so forth. Last but not least there are the people who are not employed by choice. Whether at-home parenting has kept them from the workplace or maybe still living with a parent in adulthood and not feeling the need to be employed, the choice is their own. Let’s take this topic one step further because we all know someone who fits this description. They are deliberately unemployed, jobless by choice, and happy to be in their current situation.

Some may call them lazy, but that word seems to have become politically incorrect as of late. We feel the need to refer to them as motivationally deprived or simply unfortunate to be unemployed.  But the truth is that most of these individuals could be working if they really had no other choice. One definition of lazy is: resistant to work or exertion or disposed to idleness. How can someone be resistant to work in a country where everything you need to exist comfortably comes at a price? That’s easy, money is either gifted to the individual, money may be earned from criminal activity, maybe even a lottery prize, or more than likely some form of public assistance. Public assistance is a government payment designed to help those in need during hard times to get back on their feet again. The American system may be the best in the world for helping unfortunate Americans when life hasn’t been good to them. , shelter, care, and cash money are supplied during hard times to help jump-start a normal and productive life again. This check allows many healthy individuals to collect free money without earning it, this of course comes at the taxpayer’s expense. The system is easily manipulated and in many cases has been said to breed laziness. The public assistance system has helped tens of thousands of individuals and families get back on their feet. They go on to live healthy, happy, and productive lives. Unfortunately, that there are those who choose to live from the system instead of learning from the system. Hopefully as our economy recovers, the example of hard-working individuals and the fruits of their labor will be enough to influence those who are motivationally deprived and deliberately unemployed.

Puppy has diarrhea – from peanut butter treats? What do I feed him to stop it?

I have a 4 month old bulldog puppy. We live in an apartment so in order to housebreak him I have been giving him peanut butter treats (tiny ones, and we break them in half) every time he pees or poops outside. He’s been doing great! The only thing is that the past week has has had diarrhea. The last time that I remember him having solid poop was Monday. I bought new chicken flavored all natural treats last night and his poop was slightly solid this morning. What do I feed him to bind him up? He was just at the vet Monday and is clear of worms. I’m concerned, but I do think it’s all of the peanut butter. Please help! Thanks!
The treats are treats that are peanut butter flavored. We feed him Eukanuba puppy food for medium size puppies (1/2 cup 3x day). We were going to wait a few days and see if it cleared up once we stopped feeding him those yucky treats.

If he’s getting better with the new treats, then just leave it at that. There’s no need to potentially upset his stomach and GI tract more by changing foods and adding meds.

Donate the treats to a rescue group or give them to a friend. Give his poop time to clear up.

If it continues to be bad after a few more days, call your vet and ask for advice. Puppies can rapidly dehydrate, so you’ll want to be sure that your vet is on the same page as you.
